A lot has happened in the last month for the Schans family...and we are feeling the crunch to stay connected now more than ever.
Over this past year at TCC, Matt and I began to feel the pull towards family - with two kids and another on the way, we really began to think seriously about heading to either MN or MI. As the year progressed, Casey was born and things became more clear.
Matt then resigned his position as the baseball coach, and I followed suite, resigning my positions as RD and FYE Coordinator. It was done - we were moving.
After STRESSING about having three children and no house, job, insurance, etc., etc. for several months, we were blessed with some opportunities in MN - so here we are.
On June 30 we drove away from our home of 12 years (on and off) and headed to 3217 Churchill court - otherwise known as my parents house. don don don.....
Things are going well. Matt and I are currently looking for a house - but are not feeling the push to purchase before being REALLY SURE that all is well. The kids are loving life with grandma and grandpa (who ellee refers to as YaYa). They are loved and their routine is cherished - things for them are the same, but so different. Casey is getting so big and seems to be the perfect 3rd baby - nothing seems to rattle him.
Matt and I are adjusting. Missing friends, parts of our old jobs, Chicago fun and independence, but in the end, we feel that this is where we are meant to be for now. So as this challenge continues, we will continue to grow and change and learn and we are excited at this prospect.
Included are some pictures that I made the family endure before we left Chicago - a lovely little lady named Amy Tripple took them and was amazing and so affordable. Love you!

Let's get this party started
Greetings from the Schans Family of Five!
Having worked with 20 somethings for 8 years, you would think that Matt and I would be amazing at technology. In this case, you would be miserable and woefully wrong! Just recently have I begun to dabble with a (sadly under-friended) facebook page and without fail, my critical nature reared its ugly face - facebook makes it hard to actually share information about what's happening in your life! In sharing this disappointment with my dear friend (and blogger extraordinaire) she encouraged me to start a blog. Since I live my life trying to do everything she tells me to do (she could be the president...she's that good) here I am!
My family is now hovering at 5 members - having increased our population by THREE over the last TWO years, we are hoping to stay at 5 for a nice long while.
Our eldest is the ripe old age of 3 - Sophia Kelly was born on March 11, 2005 in Korea and arrived home with us on April 25, 2006. She is amazing and remains a constant reminder of God's faithfulness - a miracle in the truest sense.
Landing in the middle is Ellen Cara born January 30, 2007. Only three short weeks after bringing Sophie home, we were thrilled to find that she would become a big sister only nine months later! Ellee is feisty and beautiful - another blessing to be sure.
Bringing up the rear is Casey Joseph - the lone man born not so long ago on March 25, 2008. His impending arrival was another surprise only 4 months after Ellee was born. His quiet and gentle personality add a calm to this brewd of children - he is our latest reminder that God is so good.
Matt and I stand in awe of the task that God has given us - to remain faithful servants no matter what. We work together in a beautiful partnership as we parent, work, maintain friendships, and anything else that each new day brings. I look forward to bringing you updates of our ordinary, sometimes lesson-filled, always entertaining days ahead!
