it's ladies night....well, ladies afternoon anyway.

cookie baking with our new gear...the girls got some super cute kids sized aprons, chefs hats and tons of utensils for chirstmas...today we finally got the chance to put them all to good use.

it's one of my favorite things to do with the kids - bake. they are so fun and even though it takes twice as long and often is twice as hard, i just love to be doing something with them - creating something. (even though i spend a ton of time with my kids while they do things, i usually end up feeling like a traffic cop - not really a part of the fun, but more the manager of it.) and for whatever reason, they love it too. everyone is always in a good mood when we bake and it is just a special time for me and the ladies.

days like this always leave me wondering how baby #4 will fit into our posse...looking forward to finding out soon...

among other things...the days where i wear jeans that have a zipper draw near.

seemingly, the schans household is moving forward with its' baby prep projects.

well, ok, maybe not in the actual household per se (in fact my mother pointed out that although we are just 6 weeks from baby's arrival, there is yet to be one ounce of evidence within our home that soon we'll be caring for an infant) but certainly within our minds we're getting ready. the good news is, this aint our first rodeo.

the differences between our preparedness with baby number one and baby number four are remarkable. by this point with BOTH sophie and ellee, the closets were full of clean and organized clothes. the crib was up. diapers were readied. with casey, we were a bit more relaxed, but still, when the day came for him to be born, we were as ready as we were with his sisters.

at this point, however, things are not looking quite as promising for the 4th (and final!) schans baby. baby #4 will be lucky to have some onsies to keep her warm and a free boob to keep her fed. man. times sure have changed.

in all seriousness, the level of love we have for her is no different than what we have for our older babies, BUT if we were judged on amount of baby gear present in our living room to prove that we do, in fact, love our baby...umm...we may send a different impression.

so...if you're wondering where i am for the next six weeks...fear not. know that i will be buried deep in my basement storage area. i will be busily digging out 9,000 bins of baby girl clothes. i will be tunneling through toddler toys on a mission to locate our floor mat. i remain confident that although mine eyes have not seen the likes of our infant swing, my breast pump, vacant crib, or swaddling blankets in what seems like eons, it actually hasn't been that long and they are there - ready to be of service again.

and besides, i know the truth of a mother four times over. everything i need to happily and successfully bring my baby home is already here - she only needs us. our family is ready. phew.

now...where did i put the boppy?

little red lady bug...

sometimes it's the little things that can make their day.
