Going for the Gold

Matt and I continue our own special kind of Olympics - one that involves a marathon of work, parenting, and paperwork for house buying. We are in medal contention - but we could drop out before the race is over!!
This past week, I began working at the University of Minnesota - wow, how surreal. I am so thrilled and a bit humbled to be working at such an amazing institution. Of course, working involves some sacrifices of a totally different kind. In short, I miss my kiddies! I am one of the lucky few, however, who can know that my kids are fine and well without me - in fact they are probably completely unaware of my absence as they are spending some QT with dad, grandma(s) and some close friends.
These last few days have also provided some clarity in another form as well - Matt was offered a job at UPS. He will be working a late shift so that he can be at home during the day and working some at night. This opportunity also allows him to officiate high school basketball and football games throughout the academic year - something that is so exciting to him!
As we nail bite our way through these last few days until we close on our house, we are reminded that everything happens only by the grace of God. We feel like this house is our home (a long story that I will share in another post!) A place where we can envision our children running and playing, a place where we can mature and grow as a family, and a place where we can begin to seek a church family for our kids and for us - a thrill.
While we are SO EXCITED to be moving this coming weekend, we continue to struggle through the transition as we miss our friends and family (in Chicago and in Michigan!!), our independence and our TCC community.
I am reminded throughout this time of transition that God is good all the time. All the time, God is good.
